Inside an Aeonium Cyrico shines a drop of today’s morning rain. Aeonium is a genus of about 35 species of succulent, subtropical plants of the family Crassulaceae. The name comes from the ancient Greek "aionos" (ageless).

Growth habit – The aeonium require little water (irrigation every 15 days) and in winter is often reduced. It needs sun or partial shade. Not withstand frost and extreme temperatures. In the summer must be outside for good plant growth, and fall safekeeping and care that the ambient temperature is below 10 º C. The aeonium not require a particular soil. In sandy soils compacted plant grows best. It grows well in direct ground or in pots. When the plant is located directly on the ground have to take the shelter from the sun or very direct and extreme frost and low winter temperatures. – Source: Wikipedia.

Inside – Opening an old watch is always a very special moment : what will the inside look like? Will it be dirty, rusty, totally worn out? Or on the opposite, in a pristine working condition? The picture shows a Landeron 48 movement in a fairly good shape, carrying some of the grime usually associated with a 60 years old mechanical watch movement.

Movement – Swiss Air Force Super Puma helicopter hauling VIP passengers to the shooting range on top of the Axalp mountain in Switzerland.
A difficult challenge: slow camera speed (1/15), long focal lens (600mm), keep the chopper sharp while panning from left to right.  The result shows that characteristic blurred background suggesting movement, a nearly sharp aircraft and a nice revolving blade disc reflecting the light from above.

Military jets are easier to show in movement against the background, specially during cold air temperatures. This FA-18 fighter’s movement is suggested by the hot exhaust gases clearly showing the aircraft direction of flight. Shot at 1/800sec at f/5.6, lens 600mm, ISO320.

Civil airliners are also an interesting subject to show movement. Specially when shot in plain dark night, like this Luxair B737 landing at Luxemburg Findel airport. High ISO sensitivity, slow speed and panning to keep the airliner in focus. Shot at 1/8 sec at f/5.6, lens 200mm, ISO1000.
